Hello! I'm Hawys (pronounced How-iss incase you were wondering); a Welshie who has made London her home for the past thirteen years. I'm a freelance writer specialising in lifestyle topics.

I've always loved travel writing in particular. As a child I made scrapbooks from our annual family trip to Brittany. Twenty years later, I documented my four-month backpacking adventure around South America on Tumblr (it was 2011). I still blog about my trips now.

My background is in law; I qualified as a solicitor and shortly afterwards became an editor at a market-leading legal publisher. Working in the legal industry helped me develop a knack for writing that is succinct but packs a punch. If you'd like to see examples of my legal writing, let me know.

 

Changing my writing 'niche' to lifestyle came from a desire to diversify my portfolio and take on a new challenge. My writing process is the same as it's always been; what's different is that I'm genuinely passionate about lifestyle topics, and this shines through my copy.

Outside of work, I'm 'mam' to an entertaining and opinionated three-year-old, which essentially means that my organisational and negotiation skills are second to none!
